We were each tasked to design a 360-degree VR experience of Dublin Cultural & Historical sites to that engage potential visitors, encouraging them to explore the locations. The VR postcard must include an interactive interface with facts, anecdotes, and insights about the place, offering a brief but immersive preview of Dublin as a tourist destination.
Duration: 5 weeks
Context: Design for Virtual Experiences Module, College Project (Year 2)
Problem Statement
People outside of Dublin might not know about the city’s rich culture and history. To spark interest, we’re using a new approach that combines modern technology with historical sites. By using VR, we want to give people a chance to explore Kilmainham Gaol and other important locations, encouraging them to potentially visit the real location and learn more about Dublin’s heritage.

Key Learnings
Strengths
My VR photography was highly praised, due to the great details, and the narrative offers an engaging, well-researched overview of Kilmainham Gaol. My design process was organised and consistent throughout. I put a lot of effort into creating a UI design inspired by old Irish stamps, while developing modern icons for each section, resulting in clear and easy-to-use navigation. The documentation of my process has also improved.
Areas for Improvement
The tinted icons in the background of the panels are too feint. I'll also review the typographic panels, some awkward line breaks could be improved.
Next Steps
There's potential for this VR Postcard concept to expand outside of tourist attractions. It could be adapted for educational purposes, historical sites, real estate, or even for virtual travel experiences.
